Abingdon
RDA
Our horses

Paddy is a 9year old who is wonderfully
narrow, which suits so many of our younger children. He quite green,
but is gradually learning what it is all about. He is also our
vaulting horse and goes well on the lunge.

Red Rooster of the Manor: Purchased for
the RDA by The Manor
School in Abingdon after a mammoth fund raising
event. The children did a sponsored walk and we offer our
heartfelt thanks to the children, adults and sponsors. Rooster
is 16.2hh. 16 years old (in 2008) and very eager to please!

George of the Manor: The Manor School have
also very generously funded George after their amazing sponsored
walk. Born in 1999 George is a 13.1hh piebald gelding. He is a
great favourite with the small children.

Brandy: Bought in 1996 when he was 10
years old. He is a
truly wonderful RDA horse, and has won many prizes for his riders in
dressage competitions.
He always does his very best although he sometimes suffers
from asthma.

Speckles: 5 years old when we bought him in
2000. He rides and
drives and excels in everything. Everyone loves to ride
him – he is the perfect pony.

Piglet: Came to us in 2003. Trained to ride and
drive, but not at all like Speckles in character – much more nervous
and cheeky. A
definite challenge.

Charlie: Full name “Cheeky Charlie” is
well deserved. He
gives small people lovely rides but causes some problems for his
leaders if they loose concentration. Born in 1989, he came
to us in 2002.

Clipper: Born in 1987, he came to
us in 1998. He
has been a wonderful friend to so many riders. He can be both lively
and steady, depending on his riders wishes.

Dasher: Dasher is a new boy. We bought him in May
2007, when he was 12 years old. He tries his best once
he understands what is required of him.

Star: His name says it all – he
performs beautifully, but he can be a prima donna if he feels like
it. He came to us
in 2003 at the age of 20 years young!

Mickey: Born in 1994 he is Rachel’s
pride and joy.
She bought him in 2002 and kindly lets us use him. He likes slow work and
worries if asked to go fast which brings on head shaking
problems. Never
mind – slow is good.

Luke: Luke was born in 1981. He came to us in 2001
and has been a wonderful horse. He drove
beautifully until we thought he needed lighter work, and he still
gives lovely rides to small people.
