Major Sponsors

Catherine Duff completed an epic 86 miles in under 24 hours.  She ran and walked from Ivinghoe Beacon near Aylesbury to Avebury in Wiltshire - all along the Ridgeway.

She is hoping to raise a huge sum of money for the Clwyd Special Riding Centre and Abingdon RDA.  It's not too late to donate!  You can pledge money by email or leave a cheque at the stables. Please be sure to fill in the form for Gift Aid (you'll find some at the stables).

Well done Catherine - you are an amazing star!

The Manor Preparatory School in Abingdon have raised a magnificent amount for the purchase of Red Rooster of the Manor and George of the Manor.  Thanks to all the children, parents staff and sponsors.

On June  20th we visited The Manor Preparatory School,  Shippon, Abingdon in order to receive from the Headmaster,  Mr. Piers Heyworth, the most magnificent cheque towards our funds of £10417.87,  being the proceeds of the School’s  Sponsored Walk 2008.

Our heartfelt thanks is due to the Pupils and Staff who took part in the Walk for completing so many laps, and to their parents and friends who generously sponsored them.  I spoke to several of the children and it appeared that lots of them  had done many more laps than their age required which was a splendid effort.

We took with us two ponies, George and Rooster, whose purchase has been funded by the Manor School (hence they have become Manor George and Manor Rooster).  Upon arrival the drive was lined with cheering children who had been waiting in eager anticipation. They then ran after the horse box to the playing field in excitement.  It was indeed very reminiscent of a Royal Visit!  The ponies , looking very smart , were then unloaded so everyone had a opportunity to meet and pat them if wished.

In all  it was a very happy visit and we are  immensely grateful to Mr. Heyworth for choosing us to be the recipients of this wonderful fundraising event from amongst the many good causes there are around.
